I am aghast at the news item about Sam Linton's death from an asthma attack at Offerton High School. I cannot understand how any school could have such a poor understanding of the condition to have left him in a corridor whilst he struggled to breathe. They say they have now implemented procedures which will prevent this from happening again - but its too bl###y late now isn't it?
The life of a vibrant young 11 year old boy has been lost because such obvious procedures were not already in place. I have no idea how his parents will ever be able to come to terms with what has happened. The loss of a child must be so dreadful, but to feel that his death could have been avoided for the want of some basic care from people who should have known better, must add an unbearable dimension to this awful tragedy.
